Title: The Black Sisterhood Files Author: Kristina Naydonova The author of this book approached me to review it several weeks ago. I was behind on my reading, so I wasn't able to commit to it right away, but I have finally finished it. Let me start by saying the author of this book is thirteen. Keeping that in mind, I would say that, for such a young writer, this book is really good. But without thinking about it in that way, it was mediocre at best. The lack of good understanding of proper punctuation and word usage was distracting. The plot itself was interesting but very unrealistic. But again, considering she is thirteen, it's pretty darn good. She will undoubtedly only improve with age and practice, and writing a novel at such a young age is an accomplishment that few achieve. Title: Last Day Author: Luanne Rice Have you ever read a book that felt like it would never end? Do you want to? If so, this book is for you! In all seriousness, I have not been this bored in a very long time. The premise seems promising: Two sisters experienced tragedy when they were young, and when they are grown, one of the sisters is found dead with details reminiscent of that earlier tragedy. Who killed her? But really, who killed her? The answer is disappointing. This book was way too long for the depth of story, the details were extremely inconsistent, and when the dead sister started narrating, it became a little too Desperate Housewives for me--without the dark comedy, so it was just terrible. Title: The Legend of Drizzt: The Collected Stories Author: R.A. Salvatore Several years ago, at the behest of my husband, I read Salvatore's The Icewind Dale  trilogy. I absolutely adored it. It was fun, with lots of action, and good prevailed over evil in the end. Drizzt was undeniably my favorite character, and ever since I read that trilogy, I have been wanting to read more about him. I was able to get a free download of The Legend of Drizzt: The Collected Stories audiobook. It features an "all-star cast," including Wil Wheaton, Sean Astin, "Weird Al" Yankovic, Ice-T, Felicia Day, and David Duchovny. I was really excited to listen to it, but I have to say that I did not enjoy it at all. It was painful for me to listen to. The stories were boring and gloomy, and no celebrity narration could save it.  I may try to give physically reading it a shot at a later date, but I'm going to have to take a long break from Salvatore, I think. Title: Ezra's Gamble Author: Ryder Windham So here's the second installment in the Star Wars Rebels series, and it was also extremely enjoyable. Ezra is a very likable character with hints of a very tragic past. He is funny, quick, and very independent. He encounters Bossk, a popular bounty hunter in Star Wars canon, and helps him with a mission. This makes for some funny banter and interesting situations.  This is an easy read, again meant for a younger audience, and puts Bossk in a different light than he's been seen before. I'm not really sure why people are not enjoying these books. It just feels like they want to hate on what Disney is doing with Star Wars so much so that it's just silly. But anyway, this was fun for me to read. I read it in one sitting last night. Title: Rise of the Rebels Author: Michael Kogge Looking at other people's reviews, it seems that many people did not enjoy this. I thought it was a fun read. It's very short and easy to read and definitely geared toward children, but it's really cute and the author does a great job at hinting at the back story to each of the characters. Title: The Green Mile Author: Stephen King ,  I would first like to say that typing this review is quite laborious, as I have a broken right hand. Please forgive typos. I try to fix them as I catch them. The Green Mile is Stephen King at his finest. He doesn't rely heavily on the supernatural (though it does exist to a certain extent). The characters are well-rounded and fleshed-out, from Paul Edgecomb, a prison guard, to John Coffey, a death row inmate who is innocent of his crime. The antagonist, Percy Wetmore, is despicable, and King does a great job making the reader hate him.  Mostly, this is a story of tragedy with a tinge of hope. Tears are likely shed by most readers (but not me--I don't cry much). I haven't seen the Tom Hanks movie, but I really would like to see it now. For the casual reader, I would recommend this as a good first introduction to Stephen King. He occasionally hits a home run, and he really did so with this one. Five out of five stars from me! ----...
